Poor Models
I love fashion week. Everyone looks so fabulous around the city. It’s awesome working near Bryant park because I get to walk by and get all these free samples. Today as I walked by the park, Ahava was advertising some sort of mud cleanser or something. Three models were in bikinis covered in mud, holding Ahava signs and being photographed. Today was pretty cold outside so I actually felt bad for the poor girls with no fat to warm them up. I’m pretty sure they’re happy though. And I’m happy too with my free lotion and dead sea liquid salt!

Some other science inspired jewelry designers also caught my eye. Sarah McLellan and Kristina Ortega created a jewelry line called Mctega in which they use mass production techniques of industrial chemistry on a much smaller scale to create some fabulously unique pieces. These girls come from a science background and are hoping to cross over from jewelry to clothes. These necklaces run from about 100-350 bucks.
Nice Hat, Oh wait..what?
So I’ve been seeing these interesting hat helmets around all the websites I check out. I don’t see that many people wearing helmets around here, and they should, especially with those crazy taxis around! Maybe NYCers will think these helmets are more…. what do you call it, hip, and start protecting their silly little heads. This product comes from a Danish company called Yakkay. The helmets or what i like to call hatmets (not so funny?) are sold at variety of bike shops throughout Europe and cost about $120 a piece. Click on the website or the hats if you want to see more options.

What’s really good today people? I’ll tell you! For all you red bull lovers out there get excited because red bull has introduced a new red bull cola. That’s right, COLA! They’re advertising it as strong and natural, combining the original Kola nut and Coca leaf (ooOo coca leaf), and other natural ingredients. Sounds interesting. Can’t wait to try it maybe. So far it’s available in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, UK, Italy Ireland, Russia and Las Vegas.

Girl Stuff
So Crooks and Castles sent out a preview of the 8021 Flagship store Women’s Fall Tees that will be available this Saturday morning. I’m really happy that all these streetwear companies are finally putting more stuff out for girls (because i’ve been looking madd dumb in those small men’s shirts), but I’m not really feeling these shirts that much. The guys stuff is so much hotter! These two shirts are pretty dope though. Maybe the rest will grow on me. Click on the pics to see the whole collection and to see all the beautiful menswear (including fabulous fitteds!).
A collection of words
My friend Jordan Winter created a little something that I wanted to share with you guys. Everyone should share themselves! Especially in the name of art.
He calls these words :
TIME CHIME
Just a chime to chill as we spill through this daytime pill.
The toast could be that of the morose.
Slept late, shoes ate, train wait, checkmate.
Step off, I’m boss, don’t cross the moss that grows small cause
you don’t know how hard it’ll make you fall.
By all means allow the beans to rattle round in that skull, no don’t spend too much time on the mull.
React and retract if the course is bleak. Revenge is the chit chattery talk of the weak.
Fate let’s me skate past your plate, deciding to take that bait was a decision to make, but I can’t fake
that I’m
happy just for your sake.
My fingers they tremble towards fist at an opportunity missed, pissed that life’s lessons have made the
impression of a needle in a haystack on your track.
You know that it’s there but do you really care?
Can’t play scared so might as well be impaired, an attitude shared with far too many in our blue
orbed lair.
I would love to share with you this moment for two, it’s only me and you,
frozen in the second to second glue.
Loco Coco
So yesterday my friends and I were talking about starting food place that serves food with rhyming names in spanish. One of the words in the name would always have to be a popular spanish curse word. We really think it could be a hit…. We still need help so send me some ideas! We’re thinking of calling the place Tu Madre! Sounds great doesn’t it? Anyway, speaking about food, my friend Laura sent me a recipe for Monkey Bread (monkey what?) that I wanted to share with you guys :
Monkey Bread yum
Shortening
20 chocolate kisses
1/4 cup butter
2 packages (10 each) refrigerated biscuits
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375°.
Coat ring mold with shortening.
Melt butter.
Flatten each biscuit into a 3 inch circle.
Wrap each biscuit around a kiss and pinch the edges together.
Mix sugar and cinnamon; dip each ball in butter and roll it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Put balls into the ring mold, forming two layers.
Bake for 20 minutes.
The only way to not is to not!
The US and Poland finally signed the deal to deploy US interceptor missiles to Poland this Wednesday morning (the deal still needs approval from Polish Parliament). The missiles will be placed 180km from Russia’s westernmost frontier (interestingly enough considering the whole Georgia-Russia conflict.) The US and Poland had faced fierce opposition of the deal from Russia who has issued threats of preventive attack towards Poland. Russia sees these missiles as a threat to their national security (who the hell wouldn’t), and as a response to their current conflict with Georgia, although the United States “claims” that the missile system is ONLY for the protection of Europe and the US from rogue states such as Iran and North Korea. geeze louise.
